Who do you think should direct this Western, with a major plot twist?

Director: S. Craig Zahler, JC Chandor, David Slade, Drew Goddard, Chad Stahelski, Frank Darabont, Dan Gilroy, Joe Wright and David Cronenberg are some names that come to mind for me.

JC Chandor and Dan Gilroy would work but Cronenberg retired recently, Stahelski is more of a action director than anything, and Darabont hasn't done anything since the Walking Dead.

Darabont did the miniseries "Mob City" after his exit from "The Walking Dead".

Darabont did the miniseries "Mob City" after his exit from "The Walking Dead". Yeah but he hasn't directed a movie since 2013

In Darabont's defense, he has been embroiled in a highly justified lawsuit against AMC the past couple years, which I imagine has been quite time consuming.

Strictly speaking, David Cronenberg isn't really retired. He just has a really hard to find financing for his projects. The Canadian financing process is grueling and mostly funded by a state-led program and the majority of his most recent films lost a lot of money, so he hasn't been able to find financing there and with his spotty track record, he can't find financing elsewhere. He's thiking about directing a streaming series right now.

All of them are obviously talented actors. What is the character's relationship to Mr. Washington?

As prisoners, I picture either Phoenix or Mahershala, both of whom would be great screen partners for Denzel.
