What do you think about Life of a Champion part 2

It was pretty good from what I saw and it gave us some insught as to who Charlie was.
That said I do have to question why he would want to burn Trip alive. That felt like he was taking things a bit too far to me. But I guess it makes sense for his character so I can't let it bother me too much.
Again, it was a good movie and did a solid enough job.

Honestly, I really have to question the choice of lead character. There were multiple more interesting characters from the first film, so I'm not sure why you chose to tell the film the perspective of Dane DeHaan's obnoxiously evil character. I know you wanted a "Breaking Bad" type of story, but that show worked because of Bryan Cranston starting out as an everyman the audience feels sympathy and affection for, which allowed the audience to continue following his story and rooting for him even once he started doing bad things. We don't have that with DeHaan. We already know he's evil from the first film, and it really doesn't take very long for him to once again start committing heinous acts in this one. I, for one, would have much rather seen a sequel to the first film than this prequel.

I wanted to tell a story about a brotherly relationship as well. I wanted Life of A Champion Part 2 to be a more emotional and family film similar to Derek Cianfrance's other films like Place Beyond The Pines or Blue Valentine. Also Trip is not burned alive his dead body is burned. He dies from the stab wound and that's why Charlie tells Jonathan that if he tells the police that he will kill him and Jonathan runs away. Also I found the image powerful of Charlie and Jonathan doing completely different things. I'm currently working on Part 3 which is a sequel but I'm probably going to scrap the idea. The original idea for Part 3 was that Charlie was going to be released from prison and then he goes back to his life of crime that is interrupted by his ex girlfriend informing that he and her made a child together and it is 15 years old.

kind of like Steve Jobs meets The Place Beyond The Pines. I really want to make a father son movie with crime elements.

Never thought I'd say this, but Anne Hathaway and J-Law in the same movie? What?! Hope the movie Eileen lives up to that hype.

Man, I feel bad for Grim O'Grady. They penned a really good script I think and the casting was really solid. Hopefully they'll be able to bounce back and continue to make movies for the studio!

O'Grady has already penned some other films for the studio, so this won't be the last film you see from them (hopefully the next one fares better at the box office though).

Speaking as a guy who's been there, it sucks when your film doesn't work out like you want but its just a simple truth it happens sometimes. Not every film will work out. It's the same in real life, sometimes there's a good or great idea for movie but when it's all said and done, it can be totally different than what you wanted.

I liked it too because I love dark story telling but the critics did have a point. It was way too dark for YA audience which it's playing to and Bullock was barely in it. So why was she casted in the first place? I mean it's an Alice In wonderland rip-off but not Sucker Punch bad Alice in wonderland rip-off

The film was too mature for the audience it tried to target and it suffered as a result. Plus, Sandra Bullock's casting didn't seem to have a point considering she didn't do much.

Hopefully there won't be too many misses this year. Last season's box office was close to call.

Sup Bros? I saw Eileen getting a hell of a cast. This season's best cast is gonna be tough to vote for.

It will come down again to the big debate between the star quality and performance quality for Best Ensemble Cast. I hope that we'll be able to choose the good side once again. I mean, I haven't seen Eileen, but if it ends up disappointing and not well received, then even if Lawrence, Hathaway and McDormand were in the film, it may not be worthy of a nod, you get what I'm saying. The category is Best Ensemble Cast, not Most star power. I mean Ghost Town is filled with character actors who don't have that kind of star power, but they could be really deserving of the award if the film is good, do you get what I'm saying. I'm not whining or anything, but I wanted to remind people of the difference between Best Ensemble Cast and Most Star Power. Again, we'll have to wait and see, but I agree that with its current cast, Eileen better be good, haha.
