Oh god. This movie's next?
Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, this is one of the most cursed ideas for a film I've ever had but honestly...I loved every second of writing it. I hope you find some sort of enjoyment out of it!

I thought it had some funny parts in it, but it was definitely an Adam Sandler Netflix movie lol

jacobj I probably liked Saving Yemen a bit more than Josh did. While not everything landed for me, there were a handful of genuine "laugh out loud" moments (and comedies are about making people laugh, right?).

Yeah this is...exactly an Adam Sandler-type movie. Maybe it'll draw like it did in his prime? I guess we'll see! jacobj I probably liked Saving Yemen a bit more than Josh did. While not everything landed for me, there were a handful of genuine "laugh out loud" moments (and comedies are about making people laugh, right?). Of course! Laughter makes the world go round. Glad it worked more often than not for you!

So...you mean to tell me that the film I made about some dumb American trying to make Yemen a better country not only grossed about the same as Scrappy, it's nine points better than that film?
I...genuinely don't know what to say, I really don't.

It appears I’ve finally reached an epiphany. If the film doesn’t need a happy ending, it’s best not to do it. If the film does have a happy ending, unless it goes with the film’s tone, try not to be too saccharine.

If the film does have a happy ending, unless it goes with the film’s tone, try not to be too saccharine. Depends on the movie. Don't force a happy ending, you can even leave ambiguous endings where everyone can draw conclusions for themselves. More realistic to leave things a little more open ending cuz we don't always get what we want. The characters do have to at least feel like they learned a little something about themselves and are able to grow throughout the film. Many of my upcoming films have endings that range from happy to ambiguous and even to optimistically ambiguous where you can probably think that due to what they learned in the film they'll be alright.

Yeah, that's what I'm getting at with what Jeff said. Go by a case-by-case basis regarding each film and what happens with it.

Welcome to the Season 31 mid-season break.
The mid-season posts will begin Tuesday 11/12 at 12PM Central Time with this season's GOSSIP RAG.
I should be able to have the database all updated for Season 31 films by the time Round 6 begins.
I will also continue working on Season 32 posters so that I can more of next season's films sent out to critics.

I have not seen Ecstasy but just for anyone interested I was originally going to do modern Gatsby. My original idea that never went anywhere was a high school school newspaper journalist investigating the lacrosse player’s giant parties. Good vibes to Diane Esposito
