I honestly think that would be a terrible basis for a film. The "fly on the wall" structure may work in book form, and sometimes it works in a longer form like television, but due to the lack of a plot and a protagonist (and thus lacking in any goals for the story) I do not think it would make for a good film. In a movie, you get a couple hours to give the audience a journey - and they're not going to care about that journey without a story and a protagonist with some sort of goal (which I feel Fire and Fury does not really possess).

I was thinking I would change some of the book and have Michael Wolff be the protagonist or a fictional journalist based on him

The whole thing with Wolff (or a fictional journalist based on him) though is that he was supposed to be a "fly on the wall" just observing and interviewing others. He was literally just watching stuff happen and writing it down. That doesn't make for an interesting protagonist because he has no goals or personality in the book. There would be no journey and nothing at stake for him. Obviously you can write whatever you want, but I do not think this particular idea would make for a good film.

I definitely want to write another thriller kind of in the vein of Life of a champion. I want to make a buddy cop movie but a drama with comedic elements. I envision like S Craig Zahler directing and Dean Norris and RJ Cyler as cops and RJ would be the younger cop and Dean Norris would be the older cop and it would have to deal with race and violence and revenge.

Has anyone here heard of the Short Story written by Henry Lawson, 'The Drovers Wife'. If so I was thinking about adapting it to a full length feature film. I know that Leah Purcell has already made a book expanding on the idea however I was thinking of taking the original story and putting my own extension on it. I have a solid idea for it. It is an Australian story (i'm from Australia) and was wondering if i should change the location from Australia to America or just leave it as Australia.?

I think you should change to America unless you want to hire all Australian actors.

My two cents is stick with what you know and go with Australia. LRF is truly a global, international game and I like when films reflect that (Merdeka, for example).
