Also, if anyone can think of a good director for my Pocahontas project, I wouldn't mind hearing them. So far, my "shortlist" for the job is: Sam Taylor-Johnson, Mira Nair, Karyn Kusama, Susanna White, Lasse Hallstrom, Clint Eastwood, Ang Lee, Jennifer Yuh Nelson, Deborah Chow, Gore Verbinski, Chris Eyre - but none of those names are exciting me right now.

Jon Favreau Other choices Joseph Kosinki Francis Lawrence Edward Zwick Sam Mendez Ridley Scott Gore Verbinski James Gunn Adam Wingard Peter Jackson(I think he’d do a good job making it an epic with great scenery, bodes well with the nature within the story)

Are there any actors (25-35) who are a bit in the mold of a young Brendan Fraser? Handsome, funny, capable of action, etc.

Hey I’m currently writing a film about the Chicago 7. Due to realism I can’t use any of the cast members from the Sorkin movie. So I’m looking for actors for this piece. It’s the first film I’ve honestly been completely stumped with casting.

I’m considering Timothee Chalamet for Abbie.

It’s the first film I’ve honestly been completely stumped with casting. I admittedly am no expert on any of the people involved, so a lot of my choices are simply based on appearances of the seven themselves... Abbie Hoffman: Jay Baruchel, Ben Schwartz, Thomas Middleditch, Charlie Cox, Eion Macken, Aidan Turner, Nick Gehlfuss, Francois Arnaud, Josh Peck, Skylar Astin Rennie Davis: Jamie Bell, Tom Sturridge, Ian Harding, Freddie Stroma, Jake Abel, Nicholas Braun, Harry Melling, Grant Gustin, Bill Skarsgard, Jeremy Allen White Tom Hayden: Michael Cera, Luke Bracey, Callum Turner, Josh O'Connor, Joe Alwyn, Freddie Highmore, Mike Faist, Jonathan Groff, Dylan Arnold, Alex Lawther David Dellinger: Dan Bakkedahl, Kevin Pollak, Tom Arnold, Colm Feore, Elias Koteas, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Evan Handler, Jackie Earle Haley, Anthony Edwards, Enrico Colantoni John Froines: Kit Harington, Cory Michael Smith, Jack Whitehall, Beau Mirchoff, Brenton Thwaites, Douglas Booth, Charlie Heaton, Jeremy Jordan, Nicholas Braun, Joe Mazzelo Jerry Rubin: Joseph Quinn, Frank Dillane, Avan Jogia, Kit Harington, Tyler Hoechlin, Theo James, Iwan Rheon, Joe Mazzello, Douglas Booth, Emile Hirsch Lee Weiner: Dan Fogler, Jay Baruchel, Matt Jones, Tom Payne, Jonah Hill, Tony Cavalero, Colin Morgan, Thomas McDonell, Jeremy Allen White, Josh O'Connor

Hi gang! I'm thinking about casting Lizzo in a heavy dramatic role with a side of comedy in a series I'm writing. Thoughts?
I'm adapting a French show and she fits the casting perfectly. Same ethnicity, same age group, same body type and a singing background. I'm just not sure if she can... you know... act.

It certainly wouldn’t be unprecedented. But the part of your question that hangs me up is the dramatic part. Casting a first-time actor known for something else is usually not a problem if it’s comedic or playing on their persona in some way. But a dramatic role brings more risks to it so you have to ask if you’re willing to take that gamble for the name value.
In Lizzo’s case, at least she has some experience from Hustlers so that shows she has some acting ambitions. But I don’t particularly remember her in that so can’t vouch for her talent.

Yeah there's precedent where it worked. The role itself isn't overly dramatic, the show tackles some heavy subjects, but the toughest acting gigs fall on her two other co-stars.
The role is for a plus-sized African-American woman in her mid 20's, early 30's with a singing background (singing is part of her role, but she won't be singing all the time). There aren't a lot of names to work with, but Lizzo does check all the boxes.
