I tell you what I think this seasons GRA's are going to be one of the best, especially if Stockton's words of multiple masterpieces comes true. So far I have at least an actor in each category that I would gladly give the award to already. Huh! Stockton! |

I truly believe this seasons Best Actor and Best Picture races is some of the hardest to pick in recent seasons, still with three releases to come, two of which I think can really shake up the season
Right now I have 6 or 7 films that I think are at least somewhat deserving of a nomination, with a round to go.
Best actor I have 5 or 6 fully deserving already, and I have a feeling at least one more will come from round 10.
as for other awards we will have to wait and see who is eligible

Due to my work schedule this week, the Season 23 GRA Nominations Poll will be posted slightly differently. The Round 10 Premiere cover and the Season 23 GRA Nominations Poll will both be posted at 12:01AM CT on Tuesday (that way I can fix any possible issues before I go to bed that night). Everything else would be pretty much normal after that. So be sure to vote in the nominations poll in about 24 hours and 30 minutes from now.

I know I risk upsetting people, but I don't get the hype around Jeff Nichols. I've seen a few of his movies, but I while I found them good, I wasn't really blown away by them. He has achieved a kind of demi-god status around here, but I don't really understand why, can someone enlighten me about him ?

I know I risk upsetting people, but I don't get the hype around Jeff Nichols. I've seen a few of his movies, but I while I found them good, I wasn't really blown away by them. He has achieved a kind of demi-god status around here, but I don't really understand why, can someone enlighten me about him ? As the writer who has used him the most, I would say that the quality of his filmmaking I like the most is his ability to portray a sort of heightened realism where he can make a grounded or seemingly realistic environment feel almost other-worldly or magical. He also has a good track record of non-traditional lead characters. I don't love all of his movies, but even the movies I don't love feature those traits that I do like. Those are the reasons I chose him for Superman and Judas Iscariot. I forget exactly why Chad and I chose him for Scion (but that worked out nicely as well). |

GRA NOMINATIONS POLL CORRECTIONS:
- In the Best Actress category, Emmy Rossum is under consideration for Final End, not Booster Gold: Back in Time.
- In the Best Director category, Damien Chazelle was the director of Spider-Man vs. The Sinister Six (his name, but not the film, was omitted).
