Hey I'm wondering if i should still pursue Life of a Champion Part 3. I had an idea for it which was about Charlie being released from prison for killing John Smith in the first film and learning he had a son that he never knew about but the reception to the Dane Dehaan main character was really poor and I'm wondering if I should do that idea let alone Life of A Champion Part 3 in any capacity.

What about using that story idea, but not directly connecting it to Life of a Champion? I think that story idea - that of a man (probably not Dane DeHaan) getting out of prison after a long stint for murder and discovering a son he never knew about - has plenty of potential. DeHaan's character just ended up being really cartoon-ish in his villainy (kind of like his Green Goblin), but a more grounded take on such a character would be interesting.

While the studio is open to discussing the possibility of a third Life of a Champion film, I personally agree with apj that the story you have in mind might work better not connected to the other films. |

You can definitely recast Dehaan giving the time leap but can you recast the character?
