Hey I’ve been writing a version of The Phantom Of The Opera it’s pretty modern and the original musical exists in the story. It’s about bullying and suicide and love and here is what I have.
A high school in Westchester County NY is performing a version of The Phantom Of The Opera. It is tech week AKA dress rehearsal week and they are about to do their first version of the show. Emily and Jennifer are both best friends and have been doing theater for years. The cute boy in their high school is playing the Phantom and his name is The Phantom. In her dressing room Emily is sucked into the underground of the school where she meets a full grown man who is The Phantom in real life. He has the white mask and everything. The Phantom is all mysterious and back in the theater group her friends are trying to find her. Back underground Emily is begging The Phantom not to hurt her but The Phantom is trying to explain that he is not a bad guy that he is trapped here and he is no harm to Emily. Emily doesn’t believe this and looks into her purse and pulls out the mace when The Phantom finally reveals the mask is for when he was a child he had a horrible accident and his peers would tease him and this led him to commit suicide. I’m stuck here.

It may need a title change to avoid confusion with the comic book property of the same name.

Is the studio okay with this considering they're gonna make more Monster Universe movies?

It really doesn't feel like the same character to me (just similar), so we at the studio don't have an issue with it.
