I think it was Chad Taylor that wrote or co-wrote Duke Nukem. That critic said it reminded them of Last Action Hero and when I read through it again I can't unsee it lol. Was it loosely inspired by Last Action Hero, or were they just seeing a totally different movie? 😂
When Chad and I were writing Duke Nukem, we knew very early on that we wanted Shane Black to direct the film, so we wrote it with his style in mind. Technically speaking, our plot is the exact inverse of Last Action Hero (co-written by Shane Black). In that one, the kid goes into his idol's action movie world. In our Duke Nukem, the video game hero comes to the real world where people have real problems and relationships - making it a fish out of water story (Last Action Hero was definitely not a fish out of water story as the kid knew more about Arnold's world than he did most of the time). So yes, there are superficial similarities to the step up of the film (which we were definitely aware of while writing), but once you get to the plot those start to go away as it evolves into its own thing.

The fact I've made exactly ten animated films is pretty wild, not gonna lie. To think, it all started because I wanted to find the formula for a profitable animated film. Now here we are, ten films later and I'd like to think I've done pretty good with the medium ever since. What will the filmgoers think of Madeline? I guess we'll soon find out!

I’d say this season turned out to be more than successful for me. A good film with Victims and a solid box office hit with Madeline. What’s not to love?

Just got back yesterday from a long fishing trip up north. I was glad to return to see the positive reception to AKA Billy the Kid. For years, I had wanted to do something including Billy the Kid in some way. At one point I considered a Young Guns remake. I eventually watched Baz Luhrmann's Elvis - I was late to the game there as a wary Elvis fan - and was struck by Austin Butler's charisma there. I didn't love the Elvis film (I thought Tom Hanks was absolutely terrible in it, to be honest). He had the right charisma, so I decided to write Billy the Kid for him (and later added Luhrmann to the mix and rewrote to suit him more). It is probably the project I had the most passion for and expelled the most mental energy on, so I'm happy to see that it wasn't for naught.

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is doing fine and staying healthy during the winter season. I'm here to inform my new movie, FOREVER HOLD THE PEACE, is out and I hope the film gets a decent response. I and my sister, Abbie Q, wanted to set out and make a touching yet comedic story about one's struggle with self-identity when you also try to fit into what authority wants you to be.
I can't wait to see the results and wish good fortune to all in this brave new year 2024. Between you and me, I think we're gonna need it.

Oh well on to the next one... A bit of advice I'd like to give regarding script editing, when it comes to dramedies, comedies and family films, think of the limit as being 3000 words instead of 4000. These films tend to not run as long as say an action film or a straight drama film and thus, risk wearing out their welcome quicker. If you aim for anything like 2500-3000, you should be able to get everything out there in a concise, proper amount of time.

As always, I got wrapped up in personal business and didn't get to properly edit it. But saying that, I'm actually editing it down. I'm already at 3k words but I'm seeing if I can get more off. Overall, please be for the lookout for it and tell me what you thinking.
