Casting Help

I've been trying to get a pitch ready, but am having some trouble casting one of the key roles. I'm only going to talk about the film in vague terms. It is a big budget, blockbuster film that mixes military/naval adventure with fantasy action. The film is set to star my frequent collaborator Alden Ehrenreich (our biggest project together yet).

The role I am having trouble casting is the role of Ehrenreich's love interest. I have a shortlist of actresses I've been considering, but I am absolutely open to suggestions not already listed. The character's father is also featured in the film and I am leaning toward Isaiah Washington ("The 100", Blue Caprice) for that role.

Here are the requirements for the role:

- Must be an age appropriate love interest for Alden Ehrenreich (he is 29 years old). I'd probably give the role an age rage of 26-36.

- The actress must be African-American (or other nationality with African descent).

- The actress must be believable as a scientist (marine biologist to be exact).
