Personally, I think it would be close to impossible to top Sofia Coppola's adaptation. She nailed the casting and the tone perfectly.

I agree. It's a tough reboot to do. Do Beautiful Creatures if you wanna do a female driven story reboot

My goal is to do a different type of movie. A movie that reflects my own personal childhood. I’m planning to set the film in 2015 and set it in Westchester New York where I grew up. When I read the book I felt a kinship with and now I related to the feelings of overwhelming teenage passion on both sides. I’m planning to write and direct it and have Timmy Chalamet play Trip Fontaine and Elle Fanning play Lux and Julianne Moore or Cate Blanchett play the mother. I’m also planning to have Matthew Broderick as the father.

My idea is also to show the suicides rather than implying them and also to ditch the first person plural character and have our main character write about the experience for a college essay
