Writing Assignment Packages

Something new the studio has decided to implement is a rotating list of writing assignment packages. For those who have played HMS, this would be the equivalent of the talent pitch meetings that pop up. These are adaptation projects that all have at least one talent that come as part of the project. If you are interested in tackling on the of projects listed here (which will periodically be changed/updated), send me a message. You will then be given a period of time (1 full season) with exclusive rights to work on the project. By that time you must have at least a rough outline and a proposed cast/crew in order to retain your exclusive rights further. Please also be aware that the attached talents involved will also sort of be de-facto producers on the project and may make demands/requests and reject (or even suggest) possible cast/crew. For now, just one option at a time per writer. Once that pitch is completed, you may option another project.

Actually, after someone contacted me about it, I chose to let her do it and take over for Supergirl. Honestly, it doesn't matter to me which one I do.

Good luck on Supergirl. As the creator of the character in LRF, I'm curious/eager to see what a different writer can do with what I started.

Even tho I know it's not gonna be Abbi, but I hope I do a good enough job for you since I think the comic series is right up my wheelhouse. Been trying to look for more big budget ideas so I'm excited.

Just wanted to give everyone an update on the writing package options. The bulk of you who optioned a package when they were first introduced will have until December 1st to send in the cast, director and at least a brief outline of the story in order to retain the option. If the required information is not received by that date, the package goes back on the market for other writers.

I’m curious to hear how people are going with their writing packages? I had to put mine on hold due to not writing for a month, and other projects being before it on priority lists, but curious to hear how other people are going. I think it was a great idea, especially for people like me who are struggling to find things to write about

Started working on mine yesterday (Magic) and it is going great so far. It is nice having at least some part of the pitch (in my case, the star) decided ahead of time as it makes it easier to make the material work for the talent. I'm obviously not done yet, but I think things in the story will get a little weirder with David Dastmalchian in the lead compared to the original film with Anthony Hopkins as I think that suits his style better.

Just a reminder that the first wave of Writing Assignment Packages are set to expire on December 1st. If you want to retain the rights to a project, I just need a proposed cast and crew (doesn't have to be every character - just the major players) and brief outline/synopsis of the story (just a few sentences will do). It that required information is not sent in by December 1st, the project will be made available for other writers.
