In order to pitch a movie to Last Resort Films, here is what I need from you... -Title of your movie -Genre of your movie -Director of choice -Writer credit (what you want to be called) -List of the characters as well as your casting choices -The Story (This needs to feature a beginning, middle and end, and includes all listed characters) If your pitch is an adaptation, please state so with the name and author of the original source material.Send all of this information to Admin as a message. Some pitch examples: hmsfilms.blogspot.com/2017/12/now-showing-question.htmlhmsfilms.blogspot.com/2020/02/now-showing-lost-sense-of-heaven.htmlhmsfilms.blogspot.com/2017/12/now-showing-flicker.htmlPitch length: To keep the quality of films as high as possible, there is a minimum word count of 500 words and a maximum word count of 4,000 words. Please do not just copy and paste your pitch from a Wikipedia entry. (Where's the fun in that?)

Should I pitch it here only?

Send it to me as a message. Until when is the deadline for pitiching a movie for season?

There aren't really any set deadlines. If there are release slots left in the current season when I receive, that film will generally get the soonest spot (unless there are scheduling concerns with actors or directors, which I generally will work out on a case by case basis with the writer). For example, there are currently three release slots left in Season 2. Pitches received after those are filled will then get release slots at the beginning of Season 3. Does that make sense?

With the new word limit, will we see any exceptions in it ever like for a rare occurrence?

Possibly. I'm pretty sure there have only been a few films that have been longer than 4,000 words, so it probably won't be an issue. The only released films that I know off the top of my head that were definitely over 4,000 words were The Prisoner (4163 words), Happy Nuke Year (7635), Dark Places (6479 words) and Tenth Circle (5381 words), so I don't think the limit will have a dramatic impact on any.
If it's close to the limit, an exception could be made for a pitch close enough to the limit (like The Prisoner which was only a little more than 4000 words). The word limit is mostly to avoid lengthy tomes (one recent pitch was over 13,000 words).

Due to a change in the film review process, going forward any re-writes to films must be done by the end of the prior season. For Season 18 films, any re-writes MUST be done and submitted by the day of Season 17 Golden Reel Awards ceremony. That would make the deadline for any polishes or re-writes to Season 18 films December 21st (the date of the upcoming GRAs). This is also the date that soundtracks need to be submitted by for any Season 18 films. This will be the rule of thumb going forward for re-writes/polishes and soundtracks.

I've received the question: "Why do I only have X number of films released per season?" several times, so I decided to take a moment to answer that here. The number of films released by any given writer is based on a few different things, but the number one factor is how frequently the writer in question submits pitches. In most seasons these days, the most films a writer will have released is 3 or 4. Those are generally the writers who are more frequent pitchers, some with literally dozens of films awaiting release. A lot of other writers will only have 1 or 2 films released, and that's simply because they don't submit as many pitches. Additionally, there have been writers who at one point were submitting pitches frequently, but have slowed down or haven't pitched anything in a long time. In those cases, the studio may stretch the remaining unreleased films from that writer to last more seasons (for example, if someone used to have 3 films a season but haven't pitched anything in a while, the studio may cut it down to 2 films per season in the future).

Re-posting this here so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle....
As we enter the final round of Season 19, I wanted to give people an update as far as Season 21 is concerned (the schedule for Season 20 is already fully locked - has been for some time).
I am hoping to finalize the Season 21 schedule prior to the start of Season 20 (earlier if possible). Here is what the schedule for Season 21 looks like currently: lrfdatabase.weebly.com/season-21.html
As you can see, there are four release slots still open. They have been reserved for writers who don't already have any films due out in that season yet or brand new writers. If that applies to you and you want a film in Season 21, time is running out to submit a pitch - so submit something within the next couple of weeks (or you may have to wait until Season 22).

Out of curiosity, lets say you wrote something several seasons back, but you weren't really happy with how it came out or you just wish you approached it from a different angle, whats your stance on remakes after release?

The studio will not release remakes of its own films.
The closest the studio allows is the occasional "Director's Cut" post where a writer can revise (but not make monumental changes) their own past pitches.
