This is the expanded information for you writers regarding the announcement of LRF NOW (hmsfilms.blogspot.com/2020/04/breaking-news.html)
There will be several different options for how to be involved in LRF NOW and provide unique content to the service:
DIRECTOR'S CUT EDITIONS
- If you were around in some of the early days of LRF, back when most films were just a paragraph or two, you are invited to expand upon it for a "Director's Cut" edition that can showcased on the LRF NOW spotlight. Director's Cut editions are meant to expand upon the previous version of the film more so than adding a ton brand new stuff or making major changes. Essentially, changes cannot be ones that would increase the previous budget of the film.
ORIGINAL FILMS
- You are also invited to write original FILMS for the streaming service. Just remember: they have to be able to be made for $10 million or less, and they will not be feligible for any awards due to the lack of a theatrical release. There also will not be soundtracks to these films. Think Lifetime original movies, SyFy original movies, cheesy low-budget horror, Jean-Claude Van Damme/Dolph Lundgren actioners, etc.
WRITER COMMENTARIES/INTRODUCTIONS
- Another idea that we would like to see if anyone has interest in is doing "Writer Commentaries" where a writer could take one of their films and add in bits of background information throughout the film like one would do when recording a DVD/BLU-RAY commentary. It has not been decided yet if the commentary would take the form of bold writing, or if it would be in footnote form (we're open to whatever seems like the more popular choice). Commentaries would also be an option for past TV series (preferably only those that have completed their runs) that could be posted to LRF NOW, or instead of a commentary you could compose a Writer's Introduction to each episode instead.
LOGO
LRF NOW will appear at the beginning of each Round starting in Season 16 on the regular LRF blog.
TALENTS
- Obviously major stars will not be signing on for the low budget original films due to the financial constraints. The films will count on the schedules of actors and directors, so there may be scheduling conflicts. Actors and directors do occasionally take pay-cuts or work out back-end deals to keep some costs down for our theatrical films, but that will not be the case with LRF NOW films - all actors will be asking for their standard salary. The studio will let you know if your proposed cast is over salary, and can offer alternatives that would fit into the budget.

LOGO
Also, the logo featured on the blog post is by no means the final logo for the LRF NOW service (I simply threw it together in a few minutes because I thought there should be some sort of visual to the post). I actually welcome any of you who feel inclined to come up with your own version of a logo for the feature.
