We're currently 10 releases away from the end of the season, so I figured I would mention the awards here briefly. There will be several categories. I will post a series of polls for the nomination phase, then the top three choices in each category in those polls will be the official award nominees. There will then be the official awards voting poll, culminating in an awards write-up. Much like real life, the actual awards will be announced a bit into the next season, but the nomination phase will begin immediately after the release of the 30th movie.
Award Categories:
Best Picture Best Director Best Actor Best Actress Best Supporting Actor Best Supporting Actress Best Villain Best Cast Best Screenplay Best Design (Best Poster, so colors, font, whatehaveyou)

The nominees for the Season One Golden Reel Awards will be announced tomorrow morning, with voting starting right away. Once again, voting will last either a couple days, or until a minimum number of votes have been cast in which to render a fair verdict.

For the 2nd Golden Reel Awards, I was thinking of making a change and wanted to what people's thoughts on them are. I am considering breaking up the Best Screenplay category into Best Adaptation and Best Original Story. Thoughts? Objections?

Maybe a Best Young Actor/Actress award like at the Critics Choice Awards? Could be interesting.

This season the nominations phase of the Golden Reel Awards is going to be a little more streamlined. I am going to send a message to each writer to select which actors they want to be "in consideration" of the acting awards. The messages will go out a bit before the end of the season so that everything can be sorted out. The messages will look a little something like this:
(FILM TITLE) BEST ACTOR: (select up to one actor) BEST ACTRESS: (select up to one actress) BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: (select up to two actors) BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: (select up to two actresses) BEST VILLAIN: (select up to one actor/actress)
You do not have to select an actor or actress if it is not applicable to your movie. For example, films such as Blue Beetle, Blackwater and Lucky Luke and the Daltons do not feature an actress in a lead role, so I don't expect to see any Best Actress candidates from those films. Solution, meanwhile, has no female roles whatsoever, so the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress sections would be left blank.
Last season, in the nominations poll I inserted pretty much every supporting role, but that was time consuming and ultimately proved to be pointless, so hopefully this will streamline the nominations poll at the end of the season.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them below.

I will be sending out this season's For Your Consideration messages soon and wanted to let everyone know that there will be a new category this season "Most Wanted Sequel". The form will look almost identical to last season's, but the last line will read:
MOST WANTED SEQUEL: YES/NO?
If you want your film to be eligible for nomination in the category (so presumably you would have some interest in writing a follow-up), simply answer with "YES", if you do not with to be eligible for nomination in this category answer with "NO".
Hopefully the addition of this category can help some films that may not otherwise win awards get some, and it may also be a useful gauge to determine whether or not to write sequels. I figured that since so many of you seem to like to write pitches based on superheroes and video games, that maybe some of those movies deserve some sort of recognition.

One more new rule for the awards nominations phase: If your film has no real lead character (an issue that came up last season with And Then There Were None), you may opt to replace the lead actor/actress nomination slot with an additional supporting slot. However, the studio may opt to only include two on the ballot depending on the film (this will be judged on a film by film basis by the studio Board of Directors).
